Four areas, four completely different trips. Uptown is the walkable tourist core; West Sedona is where the trailhead roads start; the Village of Oak Creek is quieter, cheaper, closest to the trails that are currently open — and legally isn't in Sedona at all; Oak Creek Canyon is forested canyon country north of town, most of whose recreation is currently closed. One warning: the Village of Oak Creek and Oak Creek Canyon are opposite sides of town, and booking the wrong one is a genuinely common mistake.
