Sedona parking has one rule that catches almost everyone: at Cathedral Rock and Soldier Pass, the trailhead lots are closed to private vehicles whenever the shuttle is running (Thursday–Sunday). That's it — that's the whole official list. Plenty of guides claim Dry Creek Vista and Mescal are closed too; the City of Sedona's own shuttle FAQ says no such thing. Those lots are just small and fill early, which is a capacity problem, not a legal one.

Almost nothing, is the honest answer. Of every major Sedona trailhead, Soldier Pass is the only one with an official published space count — 14 spaces. Every "~40 spaces, fills by 7am" figure you'll read elsewhere (including for Cathedral Rock and Dry Creek Vista) traces back to hikers counting cars, not to the agency.
We'd rather tell you that than print a confident number we can't stand behind. Where we list a capacity, we say where it came from; where we don't have one, we say that too.
