Check the place and the exact closure boundary
A trail, access road, parking lot and swimming area can have different restrictions. Use the official order and map for your destination; a running shuttle does not override a closure. Reopening must be confirmed with the responsible agency.
Checked September 13, 2026: five trails remain closed under the Pocket Fire order, and West Fork plus specified Oak Creek sites remain closed under a separate order. Both orders run through September 30 unless rescinded. Slide Rock’s swim areas have a separate closure until October 1. These dates are not a promise of reopening.

Getting there
Read the order that applies to your destination
The Pocket Fire order 03-04-06-26-003 covers five named trails and a 100-foot corridor on either side. The Oak Creek order 03-04-00-26-005 covers West Fork, specified creek drainages and named recreation sites. Both include maps defining the restricted area.
Their stated purpose is protection during and after precipitation in watersheds affected by the fire. The end of active firefighting does not remove that hazard or cancel the orders.
Devil’s Bridge: three names that are easy to confuse
Dry Creek Trail No. 52, Dry Creek Vista trailhead and Dry Creek Road FR 152 are different places. The current order closes Trail No. 52. For the Mescal and Chuckwagon approaches described by the Forest Service, use the Devil’s Bridge route guide. Do not replace a signed route with a closed trail because the names sound similar.
What an end date means
An order can be extended, replaced or rescinded. September 30 is the stated end date on the two Forest Service orders we checked; it is not a confirmed reopening announcement. Slide Rock’s separate swim-area notice states October 1. Check for updated orders and site notices before entering.
