Check the place and the exact closure boundary
A trail, access road, parking lot and swimming area can have different restrictions. Use the official order and map for your destination; a running shuttle does not override a closure. Reopening must be confirmed with the responsible agency.
Checked September 30, 2026: West Fork’s wilderness trail and specified drainage corridor remain closed under an extended order through October 31. Checked October 12: the separate Pocket Fire order for five trails, which stated an end of September 30 at midnight, is no longer posted, and no replacement is listed. We found no explicit reopening notice; confirm those trails with the ranger station. Slide Rock's swim area is open on its normal schedule (no notice posted October 19); the park closes it on high-water days, as it did October 12.

Pocket Fire order needs another check October 1; West Fork needs a review before October 31. These are manual review dates, not promised reopenings. Check all official notices on your travel date.
Getting there
West Fork: use the extended order
Order 03-04-00-26-007 applies September 26–October 31, 2026, unless rescinded. It covers the West Fork drainage corridor described in the order and West Fork Trail No. 108 within the Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness. Read its map for the boundary. The order text starts September 26; the map legend says September 25. Both end October 31.
This replaces the older West Fork restriction for the same area. It is not a blanket closure of every Oak Creek recreation site. A picnic-site entrance or open parking lot does not authorize entry into the closed wilderness portion.
Pocket Fire trails: order no longer posted
Order 03-04-06-26-003 closed Dry Creek Trail No. 52, Bear Sign, David Miller, HS Canyon and Secret Canyon, including the specified 100-foot trail corridors, through September 30 at 2400 hours unless rescinded. On October 12 the Forest Service no longer posted that order, and its current alerts listed no order for these trails. We found no explicit reopening notice, so confirm with the Red Rock Ranger Visitor Center at (928) 203-2900 before hiking them. Expiry or removal of an order is not the same as a reopening announcement, and burned areas can carry separate hazards. The West Fork order below is a separate, current Pocket Fire–related closure.
Slide Rock: reopening and swimming advice are separate
Arizona State Parks says the swim area has reopened in coordination with the revised Forest Service order. As of October 19 the park posts no swimming advisory; on October 12 it closed the swim area for high, rushing water. Follow the park’s latest advice; reopening is not a water-quality or flood-safety guarantee.

Read the exact order and map, then the official page for your intended trail or recreation site. The old broad Oak Creek list should not be used as a current blanket closure list. Check shuttle schedules separately. If a boundary is unclear, contact the Red Rock Ranger Station at (928) 203-2900. This guide is a dated review, not a live status feed.

Is Devil’s Bridge open?
Trail No. 120 is outside the Pocket Fire and West Fork boundaries reviewed September 30. Dry Creek Trail No. 52 is a different trail; its Pocket Fire order was no longer posted on October 12, so confirm it with the ranger station. Check current alerts and signed approach routes.
Is Cathedral Rock open?
It is outside the closure boundaries reviewed September 30. Check current alerts; the trailhead lot closes to private vehicles whenever shuttle service runs.
Is Grasshopper Point closed?
The old broad Oak Creek closure list is no longer sufficient to establish its status. Check Grasshopper Point’s official site notice and current Coconino alerts before visiting.
Will West Fork reopen on October 1?
No reopening is established by that date. Order 03-04-00-26-007 extends the closure of the specified drainage corridor and wilderness portion of West Fork Trail through October 31 unless rescinded.
Can you swim at Slide Rock?
